During their first visit to Jackson, Wyoming, a Houston family looking to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life knew they’d found the perfect spot for a second home on a 35-acre property in the alluvial plane of the Snake River. “They entrusted JLF Architects principal Logan Leachman to design the new abode,” writes Mountain Living in the “Architecture” article “Taking Root.” “We wanted to have some feel like it had been there for some time,” Leachman tells the magazine about the resulting “sprawling compound-like dwelling” crafted of Montana moss rock and reclaimed wood, “as if it’s rooted in the landscape.”
