Right-sizing and modernizing were the mission possible when JLF and Big-D Signature transformed a dated, cavernous Park City log cabin, dividing the yawning interior into more intimate, dedicated spaces, swapping clean-lined Montana moss rock for bulbous river rock on fireplaces, and replacing oversize round log beams with sleek vaulted steel trusses. A floor plan switch, lined with contemporary steel-and-glass window walls, created a fresh European-style, function-forward kitchen at the heart of the home while securing a prized central sightline to Wasatch Mountain vistas. Design-build team member Verdone Landscape Architects layered outdoor patio “rooms,” complete with a hidden swimming pool and naturalized with native plantings and the soothing sounds of water.
