Grand View

Grand View
JLF Architects design principal Logan Leachman spent over a year touring potential Jackson Hole home sites with a Michigan couple in search of the perfect fit. It was remarkable views along an extended ridge to the north, terminating in the Grand Tetons, that finally got the nod – and ultimately drove the house’s design. The entry sequence aligns to a grand window-wall Teton panorama beyond, while a stunning angle on Sleeping Indian Mountain determined the orientation of the log cabin-style primary suite, elevated into the surrounding tree canopy on a stone foundation and connected to the main house via a glass-lined corridor. JLF collaborated with OSM Construction, Verdone Landscape Architects and Abby Hetherington Interiors to create the legacy retreat, where the homeowners’ existing extra-long dining table helped dictate the living space’s impressive dimensions; reclaimed wood rafters offer a rustic complement to modern exposed structural steel trusses; and the kitchen, outfitted with twin islands for food prep and entertaining, appears as an inviting “niche” in the great room’s stacked stone wall. Wish-list amenities include an exercise room and spa with steam shower and sauna, a gear room, bunk room, multiple outdoor living areas, an expansive wine cellar, and dual garages that boast grass roofs to minimize their visual impact on the landscape.
