“Fireplaces take many forms,” writes Jackson Hole Magazine in an article on the joys of fireplaces for mountain homes. In one JLF-designed home used as an example, a double-sided fireplace serves both master suite and adjacent sitting room while dividing the soaring space into designated areas. “It’s a simple, beautiful mass that’s a floating monolith in the room,” JLF’s Paul Bertelli tells the magazine. The structure bears no shoulders or ornament as a nod to the homeowners’ love of contemporary design: “The focus is on the texture of the stone,” Bertelli says, noting small stones were intentionally sourced to create a more feminine feel for the bedroom.
