The kitchen of a JLF-designed Big Sky, Montana, home that appeared in the pages of Architectural Digest some years ago was recently selected to exemplify the versatile, classic nature of wood kitchens. “Whether you like farmhouse style, ultramodern design, or another expression entirely, timber can provide a textured backdrop for the rest of your kitchen material palette,” writes AD for the online story. “Their aesthetic flexibility is unparalleled: You can match ’em with marble countertops, a colorful tile backsplash, or stainless-steel surfaces, and they’ll pull it all off without a hitch.” In the case of the Big Sky kitchen they tapped from the archives, reclaimed wood brings a sense of character in keeping with the Montana setting, complementing the sleek Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances and Waterworks sink with timeless style.
