“A sequence of dude-ranch vacations in the Rockies can leave just about anyone yearning for their own place in the mountains,” starts the article in Big Sky Journal. These homeowners “found themselves drawn to the work of JLF,” envisioning “a contemporary yet rustic style in a relatively modest and livable scale, and they also wanted to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.” The resulting JLF and Big-D design-build collaboration surpassed the basic LEED requirements for sustainability, achieving Silver status – and makes intriguing use of the clients’ home back East as the architects’ launching point for the project’s design.
